Animals

Arrgghhhhhhhh
.
A baby was raped and sodomised. WTF? What kind of society are we? Have we lost our mercy Have we lost our conscience ? For God's sake, she's only a baby!!!!
.
If this happened to my babies, I will not report it to the police. I WILL take the law into my own hand. I WILL kill the perp slowly and painfully with my own bare hands. Then I'll chop the remains into tiny pieces and feed them to the dogs. DAMN IT!!!! Words can't really describe how I'm feeling right now.

What's on my mind

I'm not comfortable with the going-ons in the country. I feel claustrophobic. Tension ah. So today I'm just gonna say whatever I'm feeling inside my heart.
.
Racism will always be part of this beloved country whether we like it or not. It's in every and each one of us without we even realizing it. We are actually the perpetrators who perpetuate racism in this country.
.
Even government policies which were initially intended to solve racial inequality eventually create a new form of racial inequality issue. Take it for example, the economy, policy such as DEB was not intended to stamp the malays superiority or supremacy over other races. It was intended to lift the economic status of the Malays which was then, too far behind, so that everybody regardless of race will enjoy the same portion of the country's wealth. Lifting the Malays' status is essential in ensuring the survival, security and sovereignty of this country.
.
However, due to elements of manipulation and politicization, the policy was eventually portrayed as an act of racism. Until today, certain quarters ie. politicians have been using DEB as an escape clause whenever they are cornered by their critics in order to divert the attention of the public from the issue at hand.
.
I'm not worried if racism is practised through obvious channels. At least we know who or what we are dealing with. Thus, it will easier for us to remedy. We should, on the other hand fear those who are racist in silence. These chauvinists are masquerading their cause in the name of integrity, transparency, trust, justice, welfare or whatever BS they call it. Catch my drift?
.
They too are smart as they are pushing their cause within the boundary of the law through the manipulation of loopholes. This is done with subtlety as to give perception that their cause of action are unequivocally truthful and sincere.
.
I feel that as a civilized society, we need to have high respect for the law. However, laws cannot always provide us with fairness and justice. It just makes it possible. Only people with rational minds and CLEAN hearts can guarantee fairness and justice. There's no two way about it. Having said that, I think Malaysia still has a long way to go. Dunno la....ghunsing ah aku....

Majlis Santapan DiRaja

Last Saturday was the Majlis Santapan DiRaja to commemorate the 25th of Sultan Perak reign. All the Rulers and also the Sultan of Brunei were invited. Not to forget all the MBs.
.
I was assigned to be the LO for Pahang MB. Very nice guy. He made my job easy. He is totally the opposite of a person I expected him to be. I now have high respect for him. Betul orang cakap, 'Tak kenal, Maka tak cinta'.
.
Anyways, we the LOs were also invited to the dinner. Finally, I had the chance to wear my Mess Kit aka Monkey Suit :) But of course the palace could not accommodate us in the Banquet Hall. Not a problem. We had our dinner in a separate hall in the palace compound.
.
The menu was western. I can't even describe it. So you guys can read the menu below la.
.
The performers were Syafinaz, Jac Victor and Ruth Sahanaya.
.
Overall, it was fantastic. I was a little bit tired. But in the end it was worth it. Enjoy the pics!!

Happy Birthday Mates!

Today marks my 5th year in the Government. There are ups and downs, happiness and sorrow, jubilation and frustration. But one thing for sure, NO REGRETS!
.
I love this country, and I love serving it. Some people, especially outside the government service may not understand this sentiment. To them, serving the Government infers to laziness, complacency, and boredom. Well, I dont mind, they just don't know the real deal :)
.
To all Batch 1/2004. Happy Anniversary. May Allah Bless You!!

Something to ponder

Tanah Melayu bumi keramat
Sumpahnya sumpah berdaulat
Tinggalnya tinggal beramanat
Pusaka tinggalan pejuang keramat
Melanggar sumpah Melayu akan dilaknat
.
Hari ini sejarah terpahat
Kaduk yang naik junjung
Si Kudung yang dapat cincin
Lupa ibunda, lupa asalnya
.
Demi kuasa
Tersungkur ditelan bumi
Dimamah sumpah keramat dan berdaulat
.
Jangan biarkan Si Kitol pengkhianat bangsa bangkit kembali
Nyahkan dari pertiwi yang kita cintai

of Perak

Yesterday, my normally calm and peaceful town of Ipoh was struck with chaos.
.
Today, the plot thickens. Since morning, waves of news kept everybody on their toes. Everybody looks calm on the outside, but inside, a volcano of emotions are just waiting to erupt. This is so unsettling.
.
Tomorrow, only time will tell.
.
Just wish this political quagmire will end soon so that the people of Perak could enjoy normalcy as they should. Insya Allah

Caring for Gaza Thru Boycott?

A good friend of mine posted an entry on boycott on her blog. I wrote a comment, but i thought it was too long and decided to transfer it here as an entry to my own blog :) Here goes nothing....
.
The news on tragedy in Gaza is literally everywhere now. Malaysians as usual, being a generous society, donate a lot. However, some people argue that - should we really help those in Gaza when we still have needy people here in Malaysia?
.
In general, I'd agree that Malaysians actually sympathize way too easily to others, especially when it involves other people's misery. Not that it's bad, but we may have to prioritize between helping others and helping our own people - Kera di hutan disusukan, anak sendiri kelaparan. To some extend, it's true.
.
However, the idea that we are neglecting our own people may not be entirely true. Why? Well, most of us are taxpayers right? So we already did our part. It's the responsibility of the government to ensure that the money be channeled properly especially to the needy. What else could we do? Can we afford to help those who are in trouble every time we come across on one? I don't know about you guys, but I definitely can't do it. Frankly. So, pay your taxes, and your money will be used and distributed fairly amongst the needy.
.
And of course, we cant really question whether the money really reach the intended person right? We can't really ask for a perfect system, but we should bear in mind is that the system is there and it's working fairly well most of the time. Of course there will be flaws, again, nothing is perfect. That's why we elect our YBs to do the job for us ie planning, analysis, making decisions. If they don't do their jobs, then let them answer to God.
.
On boycott, I think it's an undisputed fact that the boycott will not affect the said companies severely. They might be experiencing some dip in revenue but I think it will not go to the extend of recording losses. Who are we kidding right? These are MNCs. They are big and strong. I think even if they shutdown their operation in Malaysia, it will not affect their revenue. We are kancils fighting against elephants.
.
But we need to understand that the objective here is not about killing the elephants, or even wound them. We just want to disrupt the routine of their lives by sending them a message through boycotts. We want them to know that we do not condone the inhumane act that they did to our fellow Muslims in Gaza. Even though, the impact is small, but it's still an impact. And for a kancil to cause a negative impact on an elephant, I would consider that a victory.
.
And I also concur that it's nearly impossible to boycott all America's or Israel's products. I myself should know better that sooner or later my son would ask for his favourite cheeseburger, but until that time comes, I will try not to visit McD. But that doesn't mean that we have to forget the idea entirely. We need to try the best that we can. The important thing here is, we need to take part in helping our brothers and sisters in Gaza. We never know that maybe one day we need them to do us a favour.
.
Some people also said that if we boycott McD, KFC or Coke, they might have to terminate some of their employees due to the loss in revenue. Come onnnn...., are you kidding me? We need to remember that not only Muslims live in Malaysia. So since only the Muslims are pursuing this boycott idea, they (McD, KFC etc etc) still have the non-muslims to cater for. Even the Muslims, I think to get half of them to boycott would be difficult. So stop worrying, they will not go bankrupt, at least not to this boycott.
.
Moreover, to me boycott is the most plausible thing to do. What are the options?
.
1. Go to war with Israel
2. Donate money to the people of Palestine
3. Stop giving money to Palestine's enemies
.
I don't think we can opt for option No. 1. I can only do No. 2 and No. 3. What about you guys? Tepuk dada tanya selera. And please remember, nobody is putting a gun to you head and force you to help. If you want to help, do it sincerely. Don't do it for the sake of wanting to have the papers print your picture holding a mock cheque. That would be disgusting, taking advantage of other people's suffering. And if you think this is a waste of time, don't do it. Your money, your choice.
.
Ok la peeps. Need to go now. Azrul out!
